Sharing resources

There are many opportunities for churches and schools to share resources. Usually a school will require the resources when a church doesn't and vice versa.

The church can offer the building or church hall for class visits or activities. As part of their religious education programme, many schools value the opportunity to visit places of worship. Having friendly members of the congregation on hand to explain what goes on and why, can help to bring the experience alive for pupils.

On the other hand, some churches actually meet in hired school buildings and make use of the school's resources in that way. Some schools have great resources such as sports halls and so on which churches may be able to hire for their own activities, out of school hours. Similarly, school playing fields can usually be hired and utilised by the church during weekends and school holidays for picnics and holiday club activities.

Resources used for church holiday clubs can be purchased and shared with the school at other times of the year. Liaise with the school, meet with the headteacher to find out what they actually need and to explain what the church has to offer.
