Fundraising

Different types of school are funded in different ways, but all schools need extra funding if possible. Encouraging local churches to get involved in school fundraising initiatives can prove a great bonus for the school!

Invite church members to support fundraising events organised by the PTA or Friends Association or to join in directly by putting together a quiz team or offering to 'man' a stand at the school fair.

When supermarkets issue vouchers for schools, publicise this in the church, ask the church leader if you can place a collection box in a prominent position and encourage the congregation to collect the vouchers for your school. This can make a big difference to the amount of vouchers collected, particularly in a small school. Make sure someone is responsible for collecting them from the church well before the deadline for redemption!

Churches sometimes have access to Christian trust funds which make grants to schools, particularly for buying resources for RE. Seek advice from church leaders about such sources of grants.
